The Divine Roar of Lord Mallikarjuna

In the dense forests of Srisailam, surrounded by the River Krishna, lived Grandmother Chintamani, whose stories of Lord Mallikarjuna were known throughout the village.

“Do you know, child,” she began, “why this hill is called the Srisailam Mountain?”

The children shook their heads.

“Long ago, Lord Mallikarjuna and his wife, Goddess Bhramaramba, were the protectors of the land. But once, a fierce demon named Bhandasura decided he would take over the entire region. With his army of asuras, he marched toward the temple, intending to destroy the peaceful kingdom.”

The children gasped.

“Lord Mallikarjuna, in his anger, roared so loudly that the very hills shook. His roar was so powerful that it created a mountain, and the lands trembled in fear.”

Bhandasura ran, terrified. He tried to return to his dark cave, but the Lord’s roar was like the thunder of the gods, chasing him away forever.

“And that,” said Grandmother Chintamani with a smile, “is why Srisailam is so sacred. The divine roar of Lord Mallikarjuna still echoes through the forests.”
